Many states interested in ensuring that D-SNP-based integrated care programs are available statewide need to consider opportunities specific to rural communities. Some states have faced challenges in establishing D-SNP coverage in rural areas and expressed a desire to identify ways to establish successful D-SNP programs in those areas. Recent federal efforts to expand access to care in rural areas have also prompted state Medicaid agencies to consider how they can better support dually eligible populations in these communities. During this call, ICRC staff highlight key considerations for states as they assess opportunities for D‑SNP expansion into rural areas.
